Next follows an account of each individual drug class covering the historical background, preparation and distribution, pharnmacology, medicinal uses (if any), subjective effects, pattern of recreational use, unwanted effects and risks. Chapters then deal with the nature of addiction and therapeutic approaches for people whose drug use has become problematic.
