  • One aim of this animal experimental thesis was to explore the effects of AAS on defensive and dominant behaviours, since aggression is one of the most commonly reported side effects in human AAS abusers. A second aim was to investigate whether AAS stimulate voluntary alcohol consumption. The last aim of the present thesis was to study the effects of AAS on opioid peptides and monoaminergic neurotransmitters, both systems are suggested to be involved in modulating certain behaviours and mediating brain reward mechanisms.
