  • This report presents the findings of the National Drug and Alcoholism Treatment Unit Survey (NDATUS) which was conducted as of the point prevalence date of October 30, 1987; it is a national survey which is designed to measure the location, scope, and characteristics of drug abuse and alcoholism treatment and prevention facilities, services, and activities throughout the United States, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories. Data collected from all treatment units include unit identification, type, and scope of services provided, client capacity and utilization, selected client characteristics, sources of funding, and information on staff-to-client ratio. Prevention type facilities complete a partial survey, which includes data on unit identification and types and scopes of services provided.
