  • A sensitive and specific gas chromatographic mass spectrometric (GC-MS) method for analysis of morphine was developed. Plasma concentrations of morphine were analysed in women and children after rectal administration of the drug. Plasma concentrations of morphine metabolites (M3G and M6G) were analysed by HPLC after iv, oral and transdermal administration of morphine to healthy volunteers. The relationship between plasma concentrations of morphine, M3G and M6G and some non-analgesic effects of morphine were studied after iv, oral and transdermal administration. The relationship between dose and urodynamic effects of intrathecal administration of morphine, M3G and M6G were studied in unanaesthetized rats.
